A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF LOS GATOS APPROVING AN AMENDMENT
TO TOWN'S POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN.
RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos does
hereby approve and adopt an amendment to the Position Classifica-
tion Plan establishing the new classification of Code Enforcement
Officer (copy attached hereto).

CODE ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATOR
DEFINITION
The code enforcement administrator investigates noncompliance with the Town
Code and Zoning Ordinance and conducts enforcement procedures to abate
violations. The work is performed under general supervision.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This classification is distinguished from other Town enforcement
classifications in that it has no sworn officer status. This classification is
distinguished from the planning classification series in that the latter has
responsibility for performing planning tasks.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Investigates complaints of possible violations of Town codes or ordinances.
- Initiates appropriate remedial action.
- Works with departments having the enforcement responsibility.
- Coordinates activities with other regulatory agencies having jurisdiction
within the Town.
- Informs the public either verbally or in written form on how compliance may
be obtained.
- Prepares and accumulates evidence.
- Prepares reports.
- Working with Town Attorney in initiating court proceedings.
May issue citations.
May be required to testify in court.
MINIMUM UUALIFICATIQNFS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts degree and one
year 67 —experience to investigation, zoning administration, law enforcement
or related field. Additional related experience may be substituted year
for year for the educational requirement provided the minimum educational
attainment is high school graduation.
Knowledge of: Investigative techniques. 'legal procedures related to the
enFO—rcement of laws and ordinances.
Ability to: Communicate effectively with the public; prepare complete and
accurate reports; interpret rules and regulations; use Judgment; establish
and maintain effective workiny relationships with the public, department
heads and other Town employees.
License: A valid California drivers license is required,
