RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
LOS GATOS APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF A 1982 OR LATER MODEL
USED CAR FOR POLICE INVESTIGATIONS USE.
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos to purchase a 1982 or later model used car for police investigations
use in the Town of Los Gatos; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has presented specifications for
the purchase thereof;
RESOLVED, that these specifications entitled TOWN OF LOS GATOS,
SPECIFICATIONS, USED VEHICLES, are hereby approved; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise, as required by law, for the receipt of sealed bids
or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid specifi-
cations, which said advertisement shall be substantially in accordance with
the Notice to Bidders, attached hereto and made a part hereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of,the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos held on the 15 day of August 1983,

SPECIFICATIONS
USED VEHICLES
The following specifications are intended to describe the minimum acceptable
specifications for vehicles to be used by the Town of Los Gatos. Vehicles bid
shall meet or exceed the following requirements:
1. All vehicles shall be 1982 or later models.
2. All vehicles shall have been owned and maintained by a single owner for
daily rental.
3. Mileage of vehicles supplied shall not exceed 30,000 miles.
4. Body style to be two, three or four -door model.
5. Wheelbase minimum - 105 inches.
6. Engine shall be a minimum of 6 cylinder, coupled to an automatic trans-
mission.
7. Tires to be five (5) steel belted radials with minimum tread depth of 5/32
inches. Jack and tire tools are to be included.
8. Manufacturer's standard upholstery and interior color in good condition
(free from rips and tears) is acceptable.
9. Any vehicle with body and /or interior damage in excess of $100.00 is
unacceptable.
10. Any standard manufacturer exterior color is acceptable with the exception
of red or black.
11. Copy of service /maintenance history and evidence of any factory recall
modifications completed shall be supplied for each vehicle. All factory
recall modifications must be completed.
12. 3idder must have replacement vehicles available for those rejected due to
mechanical defects or non - conformance to specifications.
13. The Town of Los Gatos reserves the right to inspect the service record
and /or vehicle prior to purchase.
14. Two (2) sets of keys and one (1) Owner's Instruction Manual shall be
furnished with the vehicle.
SPECIFICATIONS (page two)
15. Seller shall pay for smog certification and supply a smog certificate for
each vehicle to the Town of Los Gatos.
16. Seller shall supply ownership documents, free and clear. Seller shall also
supply DMV Transfer of Ownership, Dealers Report of Sale, Bill of Sale or
other documents for each vehicle as required by the Department of Motor
Vehicles for registration to the Town of Los Gatos. Re- licensing of the
vehicles will be accomplished by the Town.
17. Vehicles and all equipment furnished therewith shall be in compliance with
all provisions of the State of California Motor Vehicle Code, the State of
California Division of Industrial Safety and the Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standards.
13. Upon delivery, it shall be the sellers responsibility to provide any
evidence necessary that the vehicles fully meet all the requirements of
this specification.
19. All vehicles will be delivered by the seller to the Town of Los Gatos
Service Center, 41 Miles Avenue, Los Gatos, California. Final acceptance
of vehicle for conformance with the specifications shall be made by the
Director of Parks, Forestry, and Maintenance Services, or his designated
representative.
20. A minimum warranty period of 12 months or 12,000 miles covering parts and
labor is required from the seller. Additional warranty coverage will
receive consideration in bid evaluations.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be received by the Clerk
of the Town of Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California,
in the Office of the Town Clerk, 110 East Main Street, . LOS Gatos, California
95030, until 3:00 P.M. I September 8, 1983
1983, for purchase from the successful bidder of:

USE.
All bids shall be made on Bid Forms provided by the Town of Los Gatos. No
bid shall be considered which is not received by the Town Clerk prior to
the time and date above designated. The Town of Los Gatos shall have a period
of sixty (60) days within which to accept any bids, during which time all
bids shall remain in full force and effect.
The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids ana to waive
any irregularities or informalities in said bids or in the bidding process
or procedures. The Town Council shall be the sole judge of whether any bid
for any vehicle which may not comply with all of the specifications satis-
fies the requirement of substantial compliance.
Copies of the required Bid Forms, Notice to Bidders, Information to Bidders,
and Specifications may be secured from the Town Clerk, 110 East Main Street,
Los Gatos, California, any time prior to the date and time for receipt of
bids set forth in this notice.
