RESOLUTION GRANTING APPEAL FROM DECISION OF BUILDING OFFICIAL
(Kings Court)
1. Kings Court Shopping Center has appealed a decision of the Building
Official, as follows: requiring provision of handicapped access on existing
buildings in connection with remodeling; and
2. A public hearing was held by the Town Council on March 7, 1983;

1. The Town Council hereby finds as follows:
a. The subject building is a building which existed prior to the
adoption of 24 California Administrative Code Section 2- 104- 11A(5).
b. The total cost of the proposed addition does not exceed the valua-
tion threshold in Section 2 -105.
c. Full compliance with srnb- Section 11A(5) would create an unreasonable
hardship for the following reasons:
(1) The cost, of full compliance would be approximately three times
the cost of the remodeling project.
(2) Some sanitary facilities in the center are in full compliance.
d. Compliance with certain other access requiremnts, listed below,
would not constitute an imreasonable hardship.
2. Based on the foregoing findings, the appeal is granted, and the
Building Official is authorized to issue a building permit without requiring full
compliance with sub- Section 11A(5), provided that the following conditions are met:
a. All entrance doors shall be modified to comply with Section 2- 3303(c)(3),
(1)(2), and (m) .
b. The applicant shall exercise its best efforts to persuade the
telephone company to modify the telephone booths on the premises to comply with
Section 2 -1713, including paying any costs involved.
c. Grab bars shall be installed in accordance with Section 2- 1711(h)
in all sanitary facilities on the ground floor.
d. Curb ramps shall comply with the most current requirements of the
California Administrative Code.

OF THE TOWN OF LOS CATOS THIS 21st day of March , 1983, by the
