RESOLUTION ALLOWING DESIGNATED CARPOOL VEHICLES
TO PARK ALL DAY IN TOWN OWNED LOTS
WHEREAS:
1. The relief of parking congestion in the central business district is
one of the major problems facing the Town, and the use of limited parking spaces
by employees of downtown merchants is a significant part of the problem; and
2. The downtown merchants, acting through the agency of the Los Gatos
Chamber of Commerce, have established a volunteer program by which employers will
encourage their employees to park in outlying lots and carpool to their place of
work in groups of five, provided the Town allows all -day parking for the driver
of the carpool vehicle:
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved:
1. "Carpool vehicle" is defined as any vehicle which has been used on a
given day to transport to their place of work four or more employees of companies
doing business in the central business district of the Town as defined in
Downtown Specific Plan, and which vehicle displays inside its rear window a
sign in the form set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto.
2. Pursuant to Section 16 -45 of the Town Code, a carpool vehicle may be
parked in any limited time parking zone of one hour or more, or in any on- or off -
street parking space the Town owns or operates at any time between 8:00 a.m. and
6:00 p.m. on the day when it has been used for carpool purposes, without being
subject to the time limitations of any other resolution under Section 16 -45;
provided, that no such vehicle shall park in a residential area.
