1982-045-Calling Advisory Election In Consolidation With Regular Election Of June 8, 19821�1' `_ RESOLUTION NO. 1982 -45 A RESOLUTION CALLING AN ADVISORY ELECTION IN CONSOLIDATION WITH THE REGULAR ELECTION OF JUNE 8, 1982, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING THE VOTERS TO INDICATE TO THE TOWN COUNCIL WHETHER THEY DESIRE COUNCIL ELECTIONS TO BE CONSOLIDATED WITH NOVEMBER ELECTIONS IN ODD OR EVEN YEARS 1. The state legislature passed SB230, adding Section 36503.5 to the Government Code, allowing councils to consolidate municipal elections with one of several other election dates, including the statewide general election in November of even years and the school district elections in November of odd years. 2. Acting pursuant to SB230, the Council voted to consolidate general municipal elections for the Town with school district elections in November of odd- numbered years, commencing November, 1983, but also authorized putting an advisory measure on the statewide direct primary election in June, 1982, to allow the voters to express a preference between consolidation of elections with the statewide general election in November, 1982, or the school district elections in November, 1983; IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED: 1. An election is called, to be held June 8, 1982, pursuant to Election Code Section 5353, for the purpose of submitting an advisory measure to the voters of the Town, in the following form: I "TOWN OF LOS CATOS ADVISORY MEASURE 1 11 the regular Town municipal elections be solidated with either: _ General Statewide and National Elections held` in November of even -n nbered years: �- OR Local School District Elections held in November of odd- numbered years?"� 2. The Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County is requested to con- solidate said elections and to provide that the canvass be made by any body or official authorized by law to canvass the returns of the election and this governing body consents to such consolidation. 3. Staff is hereby authorized to contract with the County Registrar of Voters for conduct of the election. 4. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify to the adoption of this Resolution and to transmit a certified copy to the Board of Supervisors of the County and to the Registrar of Voters of the County. adjourned PASSED AND ADOPTED at a /regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos this 8th day of February , 1982, by the following votes: AYES: COUNCIL MMERS: Thomas J.
