1981-216-Encouraging The Elimination Of Barriers To Physically Handicapped PersonsRESOLUTION NO. 1981 -216 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ENCOURAGING THE ELIMINATION OF BARRIERS TO PHYSI- CALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos recognizes that phy- sically handicapped persons are confronted in society by a variety of physical and social barriers; and WHEREAS, physically handicapped persons should enjoy the same rights and privileges as any other members of the community, including opportunities of access to public buildings; and WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos intends to respond to the needs of physically handicapped persons in order to facilitate equal opportunity for citizens; and WHEREAS, Federal and State law requires that appropriate facilities for physically handicapped persons be provided in public buildings and private facilities used by the public; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the Town of Los Gatos does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The Town of Los Gatos declares intention to respond to the needs of physically handicapped persons in order to foster equal opportunity in the provision of accessi- bility to, and useability of, public buildings and facilities and in other critically important concerns. SECTION 2. The Town of Los Gatos will foster equal opportunity for all citizens in the areas of education, employ- ment, housing, recreation and transportation. SECTION 3. The Town of Los Gatos pledaes its support to the cause of enforcing Federal and State requirements as they pertain to facilities for physically handicapped persons and encourages all members of the community to join in this effort.
