A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL CONCERN-
ING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ZONE USAGE
MEASUREMENT RATES FOR LOS GATOS BY GENERAL
TELEPHONE COMPANY.
WHEREAS, the General Telephone Company of California is planning to
implement Zone Usage Measurement rates for Los Gatos
effective October 1, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the implementation of this new rate structure will add con-
siderable cost to telephone service for Los Gatos residents;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed geographic boundaries for the Zone Usage Measure-
ment rates would provide that all calls from Los Gatos to
various local, State, and Federal Government agencies (including
Santa Clara County, Superior Court, transit information) would
be toll calls; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has considered alternative boundaries for the
Zone Usage Measurement system and feels that a boundary adjust-
ment would be beneficial to Los Gatos residents in terms of
improved and less costly phone service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Los Gatos Town Council urges the
Public Utilities Commission and General Telephone Company to
reconsider the boundaries for the Zone Usage Measurement rate
system as it affects Los Gatos residents; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the attached map with the boundaries
proposed is submitted to the Public Utilities Commission for
review in hopes that such an adjustment could be made prior to
the October 1, 1981, deadline for initiating the ZUM rate system;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Town Council requests that the Public Utilities
Commission schedule at least one hearing in the Los Gatos area in
order to have local residents input directly to the Public
Utilities Commission any local concerns as to General Telphone
services and the ZUM system.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA,
at a continued iaeeting held this 27th day of July ,
1981, by the following vote;
