RE: Protest of Award - Tree Maintenance Request For Proposal
Dear M r. Mahoney :
Town staff received your company’s protest of the award of contract for Tree Maintenance Services.
In your appeal, several areas were identified as points of concern. As is standard with a Request for
Proposal, the Town reviewed the submittals and conducted the necessary reference checks to ensure
the recommendation of staff best meets the needs of the Town. Specific to your points of concern:
• Tree Inventory – BrightView has contractually committed to conducting a GPS tree inventory
and has completed these previously for a number of California cities.
• Tree Maintenance Plan – Brightview has contractually committed to providing a tree
maintenance plan and has done so for a numbe r of California cities.
• Accreditation – BrightView is accredited, including its local branch in Santa Clara.
• Municipal Contracting Experience – BrightView has the required experience and provided
references to confirm the experience.
As each of the concer ns you expressed were specifically addressed by BrightView during the RFP
process, your protest is denied. Staff will be recommending award to Brightview at the meeting of
June 5, 2018.
