1981-082-Regarding Street And Highway FinancingRESOLUTION NO. 1981 -82 RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS REGARDING STREET AND HIGHWAY FINANCING WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos has experienced significant increases in the cost of constructing and maintaining its streets due to inflation, increased road mileage, and aging street systems; and WHEREAS, revenues for construction and maintenance of streets have not increased proportionately to needs; and WHEREAS, Senator John Foran has introduced legislation (SB 215) in the California State Senate which proposes various revenue increases, including a 24 Per gallon gasoline tax; and WHEREAS, SB 215 includes significant provisions for revenues to cities for maintenance and construction of local streets. RESOLVED, that the Town Council hereby endorses Senate Bill No. 215, and urges its representatives in the State Legislature to support SB 215. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk is authorized to send a copy of this resolution to Senator Foran and the Town's representatives in the State Legislature.
