Attachment 3 1 Survey 2 Final Report May 29 , 2018 2 A. Survey Background Thank for participation in this second survey! Background The Town of Los Gatos, in partnership with local public and private schools, is exploring the feasibility of a local school bus service, with the primary goal of reducing traffic congestion near schools. This survey is based on the feedback we received in the first survey conducted in January. Your participation in this second survey will help the Town of Los Gatos gain additional information to help design the potential school bus service. Concept • A pilot school bus service with neighborhood -based stop s, providing morning and afternoon routes to and from school. The earliest possible start of the service would be January 2019, with a few select routes as part of a pilot program. • Vehicles and drivers would meet Federal, State and industry -best -practice s afety standards. • The service is not initially available to all schools / neighborhoods. It would focus on locations that have the greatest potential impacts toward traffic reduction for the entire community. • Funding would come from municipal sources as wel l as fees from parents / guardians whose students utilize the service. • The parent / guardian portion of the service cost is presented herein as both a daily cost as well as an annual cost, for illustrative purposes. Some variations in pricing, such as one -way only and / or sibling discount, may be considered. The cost presented in this survey is based on an annual subscription basis.
