RECOMMENDATION : Authorize the Town Manager to exe cute a first amendment to the Agreement for Services with Statewide Traffic Safety and S igns to add $7,380 to address summer cut through traffic for a total contract amount not to exceed $57,380 . BACKGROUND: At the March 6, 2018 Town Council meeting , the Council authorized a contract amount of $50,000 f or the Summer Cut T hr ough T raffic progra m to address summer traffic control needs . The goal of the contract was to obtain the services of a traffic control company to install temporary closures to neighborhood streets to minimize the impacts of vehicles searching for alternatives to the direct route down Santa Cruz Avenue. The Council provided the P ark s and P ublic W orks (PPW) Director the discretion to implement the temporary closures on an as n eeded basis based on observed conditions over the course of the summer. DISCUSSION : Following the Council meeting, PPW staff solicited bids from several traffi c control companies to install temporary closures to streets serving the Almond Grove for control of summer cut through traffic. Bids were received from Statewide Traffic Safety and Signs and Bay Area Traffic Solutions (BATS). The low bid was from Statewide Traffic Safety and Signs for $57,380 with the bid from BATS coming in at $58,425.97 ; however , both bids were above the initial $50,000 estimate . B ids included unit pr icing to allow for closures with cones, barricades, k -rail, or combinations of these. To address impacts of upcoming holiday and summer weekends, an agreement was put into place with the low bidder, Statewide, for the Council approved amount of $50,000. In the event the full extent of the contract services are required through Labor Day, staff is requesting the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute a contract amendment with Statewide for the remaining bid amount of $7,380. CONCLUSION : Authorize the Town Manager to execute a first amendment to the Agreement for Services with Statewide Traffic Safety and Signs to add $7,380 to address summer cut through traffic for a total contract amount not to exceed $57,380. FISCAL IMPACT : The additi onal funds for this project will be absorbed within the existing project budget, which has savings from the Summer 2017 phase of the project. ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT : This is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required. Attachm ent: 1. First Amendment to Agreement for Services containing the original agreement.
