What is happening is our town bureaucrats keep bringing this subject up to persuade our town council to allow more restaurant uses, and more chain to apses in order to increase tax revenues. Too many downtown property owners are pressuring our bureaucrats t allow over - intensification because they do not want to rent to small mom and pop stores. The re.i son is obvious. I!om and pops cannot pay the 5.00 c!oliars a foot the chain stores and restaurants pay. 'They seldom improve the facility and go out of business faster than CUP open=. dons. So property owners leave their properties unrented and wait until the right tenant comes along. Preferably a national chain store or restaurant. Together these two goals, higher rents and tax revenue, are spoiling the charm and vitality o.' down town, to say little of impairing the int grity of the district. Displacing available space for small business is the antitheses of our ordinances. Please consider this when hearing requests to make exceptions to our town ordinances, parking district regulations, and common sense. I heard that SoulCycle is looking to bring a location to Los Gatos and that is awesome. I routinely drive from the south bay to Palo Alto and often times, San Francisco, to get my need for a SoulCycle workout satisfied. I am an active marathon runner and found SoulCycle a little more than a year ago to help with my training program. What I did not expect to find was such a positive and magnetic community of people who are led by an amazing team of SoulCycle instructors and staff that bring out a great sense of friendship and empowerment. I was impressed by the dedication of the riders and the instructors to always pushing people to achieve more. I've also been humbled by the number of new people who, regardless of their fitness ability levels, by their dedication and commitment, energize me to take my fitness to the next level based on the energy and commitment they bring to each session. With all of the focus on health and wellness in this day in age, the addition of SoulCycle to the Los Gatos community will provide a very strong offering for both residents of Los Gatos and the south bay area to access one of the BEST fitness classes as well as experience such a strong sense of community. Why do I do this? I make this trek and keep this commitment because the heart -lifting messages combined with the exercise endorphins are unlike any other experience. I do CrossFit, yoga, and run half -marathons, so endorphins are something that I'm familiar with. However, combined with the goals -oriented coaching, self -care and self -love messages, and the participant camaraderie, Soul Cycle-enduced endorphins have empowered me to be more proactive, to break barriers at work, and strengthen my bonds with family and friends. I have quite a few friends who want to try Soul Cycle since they have seen my transformation, but due to time and travel restraints, cannot make the trek to Palo Alto. Bringing Soul Cycle to Los Gatos would allow them to participate, bringing in a few extra dollars for Los Gatos by way of gas purchases and meals and food purchases after classes. There have been countless studies that speak to the causation of exercise with happiness and life longevity, to which every community can benefit from. Soul Cycle takes this to the next level by motivating and coaching the participants to do something positive with their energy and time, helping to build a stronger — physically, mentally, spiritually — community.
