RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
OPPOSING SENATE BILL 376
WHEREAS, environmental tobacco smoke is a serious health threat; and
WHEREAS, second -hand smoke is a health issue and has been declared a
hazard by the Surgeon General, the EPA, the National Academy of Sciences, and others
through examining rigorous, formal research statistics; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 376 would pre -empt local governments from controlling
tobacco in their communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos supports opposition to Senate Bill 376 and urges State legislators to vote
against passage of this bill.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 5th day of August, 1991 by the following vote:
