RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
MODIFYING DECISION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION DENYING
A REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF PLANS TO CONSTRUCT A 59,864 SQ. FT.
MEDICAL OFFICE FACILITY IN THE "O" ZONE, ARCHITECTURE AND SITE
APPLICATION S -90 -9A AND NEGATIVE DECLARATION ND -90 -9.
PROPERTY LOCATED AT: 555 KNOWLES DRIVE
PROPERTY OWNER: NME HOSPITALS, INC.
APPELLANT: BOB ELMORE, ELMORE DESIGN GROUP
WHEREAS:
A. Bob Elmore, Elmore Design Group, appellant, has appealed a decision of the
Planning Commission denying a request for approval of plans to construct a 59,864 sq. ft.
medical office facility in the "O" Zone, Architecture and Site Application 5 -90 -9A and
Negative Declaration ND -90 -9. Property located at 555 Knowles Drive. Property owner,
NME Hospitals.
B. The applicant proposes to construct a three story 59,864 sq. ft. medical office
building on a 3.48 acre parcel designated in the general plan; and zoned for office
professional.
C. The Planning Commission heard the matter on December 11, 1991 and directed
applicant to redesign the proposed facility and prepare a master plan.
D. The Planning Commission considered the revised application on January 22, 1992
and denied the application.
E. A Town Council held a public hearing on April 6, 1992.
BE IT RESOLVED:
A. The Town Council hereby finds that the Planning Commission shall reconsider
its decision because it did not have new information available to the Council regarding the
applicant's willingness to limit increases in intensification of use throughout the medical

campus in the next five years and the applicant's interest in and willingness to re- design
their buildings.
B. The Town Council modifies the decision of the Planning Commission by
remanding the project to it for further review of the applicant's redesign, to focus on
concerns related to the height, materials, mass and density of the building, siting, circulation
and traffic issues, and development of a comprehensive plan addressing anticipated
rehabilitation and intensification of uses and associated design and traffic impacts.
Pursuant to Los Gatos Town Code section 1.10.085, the time for seeking judicial
review for the Town Council decision is governed by California Code of Civil Procedure
section 1094.5.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos, California, held on the 20th day of April, 1992 by the following vote.
