RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
SUPPORTING AN END TO UNFUNDED FEDERAL MANDATES
ON LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, the Federal government adopts mandates for implementation by
local governments; and
WHEREAS, these mandates are not funded; and
WHEREAS, implementation of these mandates has a detrimental fiscal impact
on local governments; and
WHEREAS, Congressman Gary Condit has proposed the Federal Mandate
Relief Act of 1993; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this Act is to assure that the Federal government
pays the total amount of direct costs incurred by State and local governments in complying
with certain requirements, or the mandate is not applicable to the local entity.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos endorses the efforts of Congressman Condit to secure passage of the Federal
Mandate Relief Act of 1993.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be forwarded, along with
information on the impact of Federal mandates on the Town, to Congressman Mineta,
Senator Feinstein, and Senator Boxer.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 19th day of January, 1993 by the following vote:
