RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
COMMENDING THE LOS GATOS ELEMENTARY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
ON TEN YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, State funding for education has decreased greatly since the passage
of Proposition 13 in 1978, resulting in reduction of expenditures of the Los Gatos Union
School District; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees, administrators and parents were not content
with such cutbacks, and desired to supplement shrinking State resources with local funding
sources to ensure sufficient educational opportunities for the young people of Los Gatos;
and
WHEREAS, the Los Gatos Elementary Educational Foundation was formed
during the 1982 -83 school year; and
WHEREAS, the Los Gatos Elementary Educational Foundation has raised and
contributed approximately $750,000 to the Los Gatos Union School District since it was
formed; and
WHEREAS, the young people of Los Gatos have benefited tremendously from
the programs and services provided by this contribution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos applauds and commends the Los Gatos Elementary Educational Foundation
on its years of service to the young people of Los Gatos.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 15th day of March, 1993 by the following vote:
