RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA POLICE CHIEFS
ASSOCIATION POSITION PAPER ON FIREARMS
WHEREAS, the California Police Chiefs Association adopted a position paper
entitled "Confronting the American Tragedy - The Need to Better Regulate Firearms" which
concerns the need to address firearms violence, injury, and death; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities adopted the
position paper on firearms for use in evaluating future firearms - related legislation; and,
WHEREAS, the positions discussed in the paper are consistent with positions taken
by the Town of Los Gatos on legislation to reduce further gun violence in our communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos hereby supports the California Police Chiefs Association position paper on firearms for
use as a guide in evaluating future firearms - related legislation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos, California, held on the 5th day of September, 1995 by the following vote:
