RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
SUPPORTING CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY DIVERSITY TO BE CELEBRATED
AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY ON OCTOBER 18, 1997
WHEREAS, the population of the San Francisco Peninsula is becoming increasingly
diverse so that there is now no economic, racial, or ethnic group which constitutes a majority; and
WHEREAS, it is important to the health and happiness of all residents of the Bay Area
that we understand that each of us is a person of value and that our diversity enriches our lives;
and
WHEREAS, Stanford University is planning a Celebration of Community Diversity in and
around Stanford University in conjunction with a football game with Arizona State University on
October 18, 1997.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Town of Los Gatos expresses its gratitude to Stanford
University and express our support of the celebration, and ask the families of the Town of Los
Gatos to examine beliefs, attitudes, and practices to the end that as a community we will live
together with tolerance and goodwill, and further ask the community to show its support by
participating in the "Celebration of Community Diversity ".
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 7th day of April, 1997 by the following vote:
