REMARKS:
A Council Member inquired about monument signs to understand that alternative.
A monument sign is a ground sign that could be placed in the Civic Center lawn area to identify
Town Hall, the Library, NUMU, and Friends. An example of a monument sign is the Hotel Los
Gatos sign on Main Street that identifies the Hotel as well as Dio Deka restaurant and Spa Elia.
There are many possible designs, and if Council is interested in pursuing this option, staff would
appreciate design input. To assist the Council, the Town Code Table of Sign Regulations identifies
the following parameters for ground signs:
• Maximum sign height of seven feet
Maximum total sign area of 40 square feet
Maximum area for a single sign face of 20 square feet
