RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
DECLARING LOCAL SUPPORT TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING
WHEREAS, the crime of human trafficking destroys lives around the world and is
present in every country and U.S. state.
WHEREAS, the State of California and its cities are considered to be receptor sites for
trafficking due to economic conditions and proximity to international borders.
WHEREAS, forced labor, commercial sexual exploitation, and involuntary domestic
servitude have been found in Santa Clara County.
WHEREAS, local governments exercise police protection and investigative services,
conduct staff training, and collaborate with other agencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The Town Council hereby declares local support to combat human trafficking.
2. This resolution calls for the Town to train staff, protect potentially vulnerable
populations, investigate alleged crimes, and collaborate as appropriate with other
agencies to address potential human trafficking in Los Gatos.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos,
California, held on the 6t' day of October, 2015, by the following vote:
