BACKGROUND:
The Town's adopted five year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget designates funding
for infrastructure construction projects. This is consistent with the Town's goals to improve
public safety and improve the quality of Town parks, streets, and facilities.
On April 7, 2014, the Town Council awarded a contract to Casey Construction to replace several
failed retaining walls along Hicks Road, Jackson Street, and Phillips Avenue. On September 2,
2014 the Town Council authorized the Town Manager to execute an amendment to the contract
to include additional work. The total contract amount for this project was $576,479. Actual
contract expenditures for this project equaled $511,395, a savings of approximately 11 %.
DISCUSSION:
The work has been satisfactorily completed by the vendor for this project and staff recommends
acceptance. Five percent of the faithful performance bond will remain in effect for a period of
two years as guarantee for any needed repair or replacement caused by defective materials and
workmanship.
