RESOLUTION OF 1THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
LOS GATOS APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
FOR CONVERSION OF STREET LIGHTS FROM
INCANDESCENT TO HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM -
PROJECT 227 -SOS.
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos
to convert street lights from Incandescent to High Pressure Sodium in the
Town of Los Gatos; and
WHEREAS, the Town Engineer has presented Plans and Specifications for
this conversion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that these Plans and Specifications,
entitled "TOWN OF LOS GATOS SPECIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR CONVERSION
OF STREET LIGHTS FROM INCANDESCENT TO HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM (PROJECT NO. 227 - SOS)",
dated January 12, 1979, on file in the Office of the Town Clerk are hereby
approved; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise, as required by law, for the receipt of sealed bids or
proposals for the doing of work specified in the aforesaid Plans and
Specifications, which said advertisement shall be substantially in accordance
with the Notice to Bidders, attached hereto and made a part hereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council

the following vote:

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
PROJECT NO. 227 -SOS
FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO. SOS- 085(11)
Sealed proposals will be received at the Office of the Town Clerk of the
Town. of Los Gatos, 110 E. Main Street, Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara,
State of California, until 3 o'clock P.M. on February 14, 1979, at which
time they will be publicly opened and read in said Office, for construction
on Town streets, in accordance with the specifications therefor, to which
special reference is made, as follows:
Conversion of Street Lights from Incandescent to High
Pressure Sodium
(Project No. 227 -SOS, Federal Aid Project No. SOS- 085(11) in
the Town of Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California.
Bids are required for the entire work described herein.

Plans, specifications and proposal forms for bidding the project may be
secured from the Department of Public Works, 110 E. Main Street, Los Gatos,
California 95030, upon the payment of Five Dollars ($5.00) per set,
NON- REFUNDABLE.
The successful bidder shall furnish a payment bond and a performance bond.
Each bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check or a
bidder's bond in the sum of not less than ten per cent (10 %) of the total
aggregate of the bid, and the checks or bonds shall be made payable to the
order of the Town of Los Gatos.
All bids must be addressed to the Clerk of the Town of Los Gatos, and shall
bear the title or name of the work to be constructed.
The Town of Los Gatos reserves the right to reject any and all bids or
to waive any errors or discrepancies.
The time limit for the completion of all work shall be as provided in
Section 4 of the Special Provisions. Liquidated damages shall be assessed
in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for each working day the work
remains incomplete beyond the time fixed above for completion.
The Town of Los Gatos hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively
insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement,
minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit
bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against
on the grounds of race, color., sex, or national origin in consideration
for an award.
Minimum wage rates for this project as predetermined by the Secretary of
Labor are set forth in the special provisions. If there is a difference
between the minimum wage rates predetermined by the Secretary of Labor
and the prevailing wage rates determined by the Town of Los Gatos for
similar classifications of labor, the contractor and his subcontractors
shall pay not less than the higher wage rate.
Pursuant to Section 1770 of the Labor Code the Department has ascertained
the general prevailing rate of wages in the County in which the work is
to be done, to be listed in the State of California Department of
Transportation publication entitled "Equipment Rates and General Prevailing
Wage Rates ", in effect at the award of contract.
