A RESOLUTION CONTINUING TIME
SISTER CITY COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED
BY RESOLUTION NO. 1972 -68.
WHEREAS, the Los Gatos Town Council is desirous of furthering
its own cultural activities and promoting better understanding of
cultural differences ;between Los Gatos and cities in other lands and
believes that the Sister City Program is helping to do this;
NOW -, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Los Gatos Town Council
does hereby continue the Sister City Committee and the program which .
was commenced by Council Resolution No. 1972 -58, adopted June 5, 1.972.
The Sister City Committee shall continue to be composed of not less
than three (3) and not more than seven (7) persons to be appointed by
the Council. The Committee shall select its own chairman and shall
determine its own meeting dates. The Committee will continue until
terminated by resolution of the Council.
1. PMMRS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
The powers, duties and responsibilities of -the Sister City
Committee are to initiate, coordinate and arrange for carrying out
various relationships and activities between Los Gatos and its Sister
City.
Included among such relationships shall be exchanges of
exhibits of arts, crafts, and related items typical of each of the
cities for display in libraries, town halls, schools, or. other public
places in each Sister City; to encourage written communications
between individuals and groups in Los Gatos and its Sister City; to
encourage persons from Los Gatos who may be traveling to make con-
tacts with persons in the Sister City; and to promote other activities
and relationships as determined by the Sister City Committee. The
Committee shall. present a written report annually to Council, which may
include recommendations.
2. EXPENDITURES.
No expenditures of Town funds shall be made by the Sister
City Committee without advance budgeting by the Town Council, since
it is intended by the Council that this effort be one primarily of
private citizens for the benefit of the community as a whole, and
that it be mainly of a voluntary nature without substantial expense
to Los Gatos taxpayers. However, each official, department, and
employee shall assist -the Conuni.ttee to the extent possible, upon
request of the Committee.
