RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR RICHARD BALCH'S
SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, RICHARD BALCHwas born September 23, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD BALCH passed away on January 15, 1999; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD BALCH served in the United States Navy during World War II and
worked in the automobile industry in Michigan and later in Southern California; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD BALCH realized his life -long dream 25 years ago when he opened
the Curious Book Shoppe at the corner of North Santa Cruz Avenue and West Main Street
(relocating it several years later to 23 East Main Street); and
WHEREAS, for 25 years RICHARD BALCH provided an invaluable service to the Town
of Los Gatos by offering the best in reading.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS does
hereby render its special appreciation for RICHARD BALCU S commitment and contribution to Los
Gatos.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 16th day of February, 1999 by the following vote:
