AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
ESTABLISHING A FILING FEE TO BE
PAID BY CANDIDATES FOR THE ELECTED OFFICES OF
THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I.
Section 2.30.011 is hereby added to read as follows:
Section 2.30.011. Candidates filing fee.
(a) Findings. The Town Council hereby finds and determines that processing the
nomination papers of candidates for elected Town office requires significant time of the
Town Clerk and staff to receive the nomination papers when tendered for filing, evaluate
compliance with requirements of the California Elections Code and verify the signatures
and voter registration and eligibility of the candidate and the voters proposing a candidate.
Twenty -five dollars ($25.00) is proportionate to the actual cost to the Town of Los Gatos
of performing these tasks.
(b) Fee. Any candidate for the elected offices of the Town of Los Gatos, (Town
Council Member, Treasurer and Town Clerk), shall pay to the Town Clerk at the time of
filing nomination papers with the Town Clerk.
SECTION II.
This Ordinance takes effect 30 days after the date it is adopted. Within 15 days after
this ordinance is adopted, the Town Clerk shall cause it to be published once in a
newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in the Town.
This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos on April 6, 1992 and adopted by the following vote as an Ordinance

of the Town of Los Gatos at a regular meeting of the Town Council on April 20, 1992.
