BACKGROUND:
The development of a community sports facility has been a Town priority for many years. In
2008, the proceeds from the sale of 13 acres of land in Vasona Park were placed in a reserve
fund specifically for the development of community and youth sports facilities. In 2009,
approximately $3 million from this fund was used to purchase a site located at 930 University
Avenue. The master planning process for the Creekside Sports Park began in November 2010
and was completed earlier this year.

OCTOBER 26, 2011
MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL
SUBJECT: LOS GATOS CREEKSIDE SPORTS PARK.
DISCUSSION:
The master plan for the Creekside Sports Park was approved by the Town Council at a regular
Town Council meeting held on October 3Id. After Council approval of the master plan, a "kick-
off' ceremony was held on October 18th to commemorate the start of the sports park site
development.
At the October 18th "kick-off' ceremony, the Los Gatos United Soccer League, represented by
Ed San Juan, presented the Town with a check in the amount of $100,000. These funds are to be
used by the Town for the construction of the facility. In order for this to occur, the Town
Council must accept the presented funds and authorize staff to perform a corresponding budget
adjustment.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the Town Council accept the donation of $100,000 from the Los Gatos
United Soccer League for improvements associated with the Los Gatos Creekside Sports Park
Project. It is further recommended the Council authorize a budget adjustment to the GFAR fund
recognizing the donation as revenue and increasing the project budget by this same amount.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
Is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A budget adjustment will be made to the GFAR fund that will recognize an increase of $100,000
in donations as well as an expenditure appropriation increase to the Los Gatos Creekside Sports
Park Project #411-831-4402.
