SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Conduct an appointment process for: Arts and Culture Commission, Building Board of
Appeals, Community Services Commission, General Plan Committee, Historic Preservation
Committee, Library Board, Parks Commission, Personnel Board, Planning Commission, and
Transportation and Parking Commission.
2. Direct the Clerk Administrator to re -advertise any vacant positions following the
appointments on October 24, 2011.
DISCUSSION:
On October 24, 2011, Council will interview applicants for vacant board, commission, and
committee positions (hereafter, "commissions".) Attached is a list of commissions, the number
of vacancies, and the applicants' names The proposed schedule allows five minutes. The
schedule is for planning purposes, and more time can be taken with the Planning Commission
applicants, if needed.
Rob Gelphman will not attend his interview due to a business trip. He submitted the attached
letter of interest and has requested Council consideration for appointment to the Parks
Commission.
On October 20, 2011, Judy Glickman withdrew her application for the Planning Commission,
and Eric Eberle withdrew his application for the General Plan Committee.
Following the interviews, Council may appoint applicants to the vacant positions. Upon
completion of the appointment process, Council may direct the Clerk Administrator to re -
advertise any vacant commission positions.

CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that Council appoint applicants to fill vacant Town board, commission, and
committee positions, and direct the Clerk Administrator to re -advertise any unfilled positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.

Dear Mayor and members of the City Council of Los Gatos,
I would like to be considered for an appointment on the Parks Commission for the
Town of Los Gatos.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the interviews on Monday, October 24 as I
have a business trip that has been scheduled for months.
Other than my education, involvement in other non-profit organizations, standing
in the community, participation in local youth sports leagues on behalf of my
children, being a homeowner and frequent user of the local parks, my
qualifications are minimal I admit, but my desire and commitment is great.
I am available to discuss in more detail anytime before or after the week of
October 24th
I hope you find my sincerity and genuine desire to be an active resident of the
community sufficient for your purposes.
