WORKPLAN FOR 2011-2012
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the Emergency Preparedness/Strategic Goals work plan for 2011-2012.
BACKGROUND:
As part of the Town Council's Strategic Goals for 2011-2013 the Police Department has created an
Emergency Preparedness/Strategic Goals work plan (see Attachment). In July, 2011, the workplan was
reviewed by the Emergency Preparedness sub -committee, When approved by the Council, the
Department will implement the objectives and tactics described within the plan.
DISCUSSION:
The Emergency Preparedness work plan covers 7 topic areas reflecting various aspects of preparedness,
The Police Department has activities in process in each area of the work plan: new neighborhood CERT
teams are being formed; numerous Los Gatos Prepared presentations are scheduled for October 201 1, an
EOC/CERT/ARES drill is scheduled for October 21 and 22; the Emergency Preparedness/Community
Outreach database is well underway; Personal Emergency Preparedness classes have been presented in
Los Gatos, with more to come; and flood and wildfire evacuation plans are in progress.
CONCLUSION:
The Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department requests the Town Council approve the Emergency
Preparedness/Strategic Goals work plan for 2011-2012.
