SUBJECT: APPROVE PLACEMENT OF PLAQUE RECOGNIZING THE CITY OF MONTE
SERENO'S $100,000 CONTRIBUTION TO THE TOWN PLAZA FOUNTAIN
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve placement of plaque recognizing the City of Monte Sereno's $100,000 contribution to the
Town Plaza fountain.
BACKGROUND:
Several years ago, the City of Monte Sereno transferred $100,000 of their State Park Bond allocation to
the Town of Los Gatos for use in Town parks. Subsequently, Monte Sereno requested that the
allocation be used towards a renovation of the Town Plaza fountain, including the installation of an
ultra -violet filtration system.
In 2008, the Town Council adopted a Solicitation and Donation Policy (Policy) setting forth guidelines
for accepting and recognizing donations to the Town. The Policy allows for plaques recognizing
donations subject to Town Council approval. Staff is bringing forward the request for placement of a
plaque recognizing the City of Monte Sereno's $100,000 contribution to the Town Plaza fountain.
DISCUSSION:
The placement of a plaque commemorating Monte Sereno's contribution to the fountain is consistent
with the donor recognition guidelines in the Council -adopted Policy. Staff recommends that a suitable
location in the vicinity of the fountain be identified for an 8"Xl0" plaque with the following wording
consistent with Policy guidelines: The Town of Los Gatos recognizes and appreciates the City of Monte
Sereno for its donation to the Plaza Park fountain. The month and year the plaque is installed will be

installed.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
Is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for the production of the plaque are available in the FY 2011-12 Non -Departmental budget.
