The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on Monda y,
October 4, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Diane McNutt, Vice Mayor Joe Pirzynski, Councilmember Steve
Rice, Councilmember Barbara Spector, and Councilmember Mike Wasserman.
Absent: None.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Youth Citizens of the Year - Erik Eastland, Jordan Woods, Meredith Benson, Nicky
Robinson, and Shea O’Gorman
Erik Eastland, Jordan Woods, Meredith Benson, Nicky Robinson, and Shea
O’Gorman, Youth Citizens of the Year, led the Pledge of Allegiance. The
audience was invited to participate.
PRESENTATIONS
Commendations
Nathan Devlin, Eagle Scout
Mayor Diane McNutt presented a commendation to Nathan Devlin for his
donation of emergency access signs which was his Eagle Scout project
completed in cooperation with the 911 Access Program.
Mr. Devlin thanked his Scout Leaders, his family, and Sergeant Kerry Harris
for their support.
Marita Trobough,The Next Step Boutique - Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Mayor Diane McNutt presented a commendation to Marita Trobough, Next
Step Boutique, for her service to breast cancer survivors.
Ms. Trobough thanked the Council and the community for their support.

Employee Recognition - Patsy Garcia
Mayor Diane McNutt and the Town Council recognized Patsy Garcia for 37
years of service as an employee for the Town of Los Gatos.
Ms. Garcia thanked the Town and the Council for all their support.

COUNCIL/TOWN MANAGER REPORTS
Council Matters
There were no Council Matters for this meeting.
Manager Matters
Mr. Larson
Commented that the Town had a successful annual Garage Sale.
Commented that the Town will be hosting the annual Second Chance Day on
Saturday, October 9, 2010.
Commented that the Town will be hosting the annual Police Recognition lunch
on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the History Club of Los Gatos.
Commented that the Police Officer’s Association will be hosting the annual Taste
of Los Gatos event on Sunday, October 17, 2010.
Commented that on Monday, October 18, 2010 the Planning Commission and
the Town Council will hold a joint study session to review the Town’s Housing
Element.
Commented that the Town is accepting applications to volunteer on many of the
Town’s Boards, Commissions, and Committees. The deadline for submittal of
applications is Friday, October 22, 2010.

Commented on the many parks, trails, and open spaces within Los Gatos.
Commented that more information can be found at www.LosGatosCa.gov, the
Los Gatos Recreation Department at www.lgsrecreation.org, or the Department
of Parks and Public Works at 408-399-5770.
CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION)
1. Approve the employment agreement for Judith Propp for appointment to Town
Attorney.
2. PPW Job No. 10-06 - Park Tennis and Basketball Court Resurfacing Project
Authorize the Town Manager to execute a Certificate of Acceptance and Notice of
Completion accepting the work of Joseph J. Albanese Inc. and authorize recording by
the Clerk Administrator.
3. PPW Job No. 10-10 - Highway 9/University Avenue Intersection Improvement
Project 813-0202 Authorize the Town Manager to execute a professional engineering
design services agreement With BKF Engineers Inc. in an amount not to exceed
$89,559.
4. PPW Job No. 10-03 Parks And Playground Equipment Upgrade Project. Authorize
the Town Manager to execute a construction services agreement with Ross Recreation
in an amount not to exceed $108,100.
5. Santa Clara Countywide Bicycle Plan
a. Adopt a resolution approving the Santa Clara Countywide Bicycle Plan as a
comprehensive policy document guiding the development of local bikeway
systems. RESOLUTION 2010-095
b. Authorize application of grant funds for projects in the countywide bicycle plan
in the Town of Los Gatos.

6. Approve Council/Agency minutes of September 20, 2010.
MOTION: Motion by Vice Mayor Joe Pirzynski to approve Consent Items
#1-6.
Seconded by Councilmember Mike Wasserman.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Guardino
Invited the community to participate in the annual Applied Materials/Silicon Valley
Leadership Group’s Turkey Trot run/walk for health, hope, and a home.
Thanked Vice Mayor Joe Pirzynski for attending the second annual Kids Fun
Run held at Oak Meadow Park last weekend.
Mr. Effren
Commented about the Mayor’s Cup Challenge which is one of the races in the
Turkey Trot.
Commented that the winning city will receive the Westinghouse Solar Mayor’s
Cup for display in that city’s lobby and recognition at the race and in the press.
Mr. Goddard
Commented that this year theTurkey Trot incorporates a race category for armed
forces and veterans, and a wheelchair category.
