RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
SUPPORTING SANTA CLARA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (VTA)
PLACEMENT ON THE NOVEMBER 7, 2000, STATEWIDE BALLOT,
A MEASURE AUTHORIZING VTA TO ENACT A ONE-HALF CENT
SALES TAX FOR TRANSIT PURPOSES FOR A PERIOD OF 30 YEARS
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has voted to place on the
November 7, 2000, statewide ballot, a measure authorizing VTA to enact a one-half cent sales tax for transit
purposes for a period of 30 years;
WHEREAS, this measure will authorize VTA to:
— connect BART to Milpitas, San Jose, Santa Clara _
— build rail connection from San Jose Airport to BART, Caltrain, light rail
— purchase vehicles for disabled access, senior safety, clean air buses
— provide light rail throughout Santa Clara County
— expand, electrify Caltrain;
— increase rail, bus service
RESOLVED, thatthe Town of Los Gatos Town Council supports VTA's goal to provide these
additional services to the residents of Santa Clara County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, California, held on the 18"' day of September, 2000 by the following vote:
