2000-118-Authorizing The Expenditure Of Funds From The Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund For An Additional Police Officer To Be Assigned As A Motorcycle Traffic Officer And Authorize The AccRESOLUTION 2000-118 RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FROM THE SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND FOR AN ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICER TO BE ASSIGNED AS A MOTORCYCLE TRAFFIC OFFICER AND AUTHORIZE THE ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF SLESF FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF MONTE SERENO TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICER TO BE ASSIGNED AS A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER WHEREAS, Chapter 6.7 of Division 3 of Title 3 of the Government Code was amended with the Governor's approval of Assembly Bill 2885; and WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos is entitled to receive $100000 tinder the terms of the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund if specified requirements are met; and WHEREAS, the City of Monte Sereno is also entitled to receive $100,000 under the same terms and has agreed to transfer the fiends to the Town of Los Gatos to supplement its Police Services with the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department; and WHEREAS, the State funding cannot be used to supplant current Town costs for law enforcement and must be expended exclusively for front-line police services; and WHEREAS, the Town Council did conduct the required public hearing on October 2, 2000 and considered the required written request from the Chief of Police; and WHEREAS, the Town Council has considered the written request separate and apart from the allocation of general funds for police services; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of California, as follows: 1. The Town Manager is directed to continue the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) within the Town for receipt and disbursement of money received from the County Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund as approved by the State of California; 2. The Town Manager is directed to promptly remit to the General Fund all funding deposited in such SLESF fund for the additional funding of one Police Officer position to be assigned as a motorcycle traffic officer and one Police Officer position to be assigned as a School Resource Officer; 3. The Town Manager is directed to submit reports concerning the expenditure of'SLESF funds to the Santa Clara County Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee.
