AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS, AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 392 DESIGNATED AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF SAID TOWN BY
AMENDING SECTION 3.00 THEREOF: AND By ADDING TO SAID
ORDINANCE NO. 392 A NEW SECTION TO HE KNOWN AS SECTION
30.00 WHICH SECTION ESTABLISHES A NEW ZONING DISTRICT AND
PRESCRIBES USES OF LAND AND BUILDINGS AND OTHER REGULATIONS.
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE. Section 3.00, DISTRICTS, of Ordinance
No. 392 is hereby repealed.
SECTION TWO: A new section is hereby added to Ordinance
No. 392 as follows:
Section 3.00 DISTRICTS: In order to carry out the purpose
and provisions of this ordinance, the Town is hereby divided
into districts known as:

SECTION THREE: The following new sections are hereby
added to Ordinance No. 392:
Section 30.00 1T01" Office District

Section 30.01 Intent. It is intended by the establishment
of a professional office district within this ordinance to
accommodate a demonstrated need for the development of office
space together with the necessary landscaping and off-street
parking facilities in locations served by primary access, yet
inappropriate for commercial development because of the close
proximity to residential uses. It is intended that the pro-
fessional office uses established in this district shall be
designed and landscaped so as to be in harmony with such
adjacent residential uses.
Section 30.02 Uses Permitted. No building, structure
or land shall be used and no building or structure shall be
hereafter erected, structurally altered or enlarged except for
the following uses:
(a) Offices: subject in all cases to approval in
accordance with the provisions of Section 14.00
of this ordinance.
1. Administrative or executive offices: Office
management operations, the direction of
enterprises, and similar uses but not including
merchandising or sales services.
2. Professional offices: Offices devoted to the
practice of the professions and arts, including
but not limited to architecture, dentistry,
engineering, law and medicine, but not including
the sale of drugs or prescriptions except as
incidental to the principal use and where there
is no external evidence of such incidental use.
3. Research Laboratories: Buildings or structures
devoted to the investigation, analysis or

experimentation, to establish new or revised
findings and standards, if first approved by
the Commission by the securing of a conditional
use permit as provided in Section 18.00 of this
ordinance.
Section 30.03 Development Standards: The following minimum
development standards are established as a guide to the Planning
Commission in its administration of Sections 14.00 and 18.00 of
this ordinance: provided however, the Planning Commission may make
more restrictive requirements in order to assure harmony with
adjacent uses of land
(a) Height: Not to exceed 2J stories or 35 feet.
(b) Lot coverage: Buildings within foundation lines
are not to exceed 25 percent (25%) of the lot area.
(c) Yards: Front yard, Side and rear yards to be equal
to those required in the nearest contiguous zone,
(d) Off-street parking: Off-street parking for vehicles
shall be provided in an amount which in the opinion
of the Planning Commission, is sufficient to insure
complete off-street parking for both employees and
clients.
(e) Landscaping: Landscaping shall be provided in such
a manner as to insure that the developments will be
harmonious with adjacent residential areas.
(f) Signs Signs shall be permitted for identification
only. They must be located upon the face of and
parallel to the building and must not contain
flashing or moving lights.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force thirty (30) days from and after date of its passage and
before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage it
shall be published once with the names of the members voting for
and against the same in the LOS GATOS TIMES-SARATOGA OBSERVER, a
newspaper published in the Town of Los Gatos.
