AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION IN THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF
SAID TOWN A PROPOSITION OF INCURRING BONDED
INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID TOWN FOR THE ACQUISI--
TION, CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF
CERTAIN MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, DECLARING
THE.ESTIMATED AND TOTAL COST TO THE TOWN
OF LOS GATOS OF SAID MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS,
THE' AAMOUNT` 'OF THE'.' PRINCIPAL OF i SAID '1N
DEBTEDNESS: TO: BE'"-INGURRED':ITHEREFOR y::THE
MAXIMUM RATE OF INTEREST TO BE PAID THEREON,
THE MANNER OF HOLDING THE ELECTION AND THE
PROCEDURE FOR VOTING FOR OR AGAINST THE
PROPOSITION.
CROSS-TOWN HIGHWAY CONNECTION
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOV4N OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos by
Resolution passed and adopted at a continued regular meeting thereof
on the 7th day of October, 1955, by a two-thirds vote of all of its
members, did determine that the public interest and necessity demand
the acquisition and construction and completion of the municipal
improvements hereinafter mentioned; that the said municipal improve-
ments are necessary and convenient tocarry out the objects, purposes
and powers of the Town; that the cost of the proppsedmunicipal.
improvements will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual
income and revenue of the Town; and that the indebtedness proposed to
be incurred will require an expenditure greater than the amount allowed
for it by the annual tax levy of the Town; that said Resolution was
duly entered in the minutes of said meeting and is now on file and of
record in the Office of the Town `Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED AS FOLLOWS:
A special municipal election is hereby called and
ordered, a_nd will be held in the Town of Los Gatos on Tuesday, the
6th day of December, 1955, and at which election there shall be sub-
mitted to the.: qualified voters of the Town the question of incurring
a bonded indebtedness by the Town for the objects and purposes set
forth in the following proposition, to-wit:

PROPOSITION: CROSS-TOWN HIGHWAY CONNECTION.
Shall the Town of Los Gatos incur a bonded indebtedness in
the principal amount of $$0,000.00, in accordance with the provisions
of the Ordinance calling the election at which this Droposition is
submitted for the objects and purposes of acquiring and constructing;
or completing of the following municipal improvements, to-wit:
The acquisit:onconstruction`' or completion
of a Cross-Town Hiehway Connection and the
acquisition of lands and easements therefor
and by doing such incidental work as may be
necessary to complete the same?
The estimated and total cost to the Town of Los Gatos of the
municipal improvements as.s.et forth in the above proposition is
$$0,000.00, and the amount of the principal of the indebtedness
proposed to be incurred by the Town of Los Gatos fnr the principal
improvements described in the above proposition is the sum of $80,000.
The,Town Council does hereby submit to the qualified voters
at the said special municipal election, this Ordinance and the
proposition hereinabove set forth. The Town Council proposes to issue
and sell bonds of the Town in the amount and for the objects and
purposes specified in the said proposition, if two-thirds of the
qualified ;electors voting on such proposition vote for it.
If two-thirds of the qualified electors voting on such
proposition-vote in favor thereof, the proposition shall be deemed
adopted. The bonds shall: be negotiable` in for and of the character
known as f,Serial", and shall bear interest at the rate not exceeding.
six per cent (6%) per annum, payable semi-annually, except that
interest for the first year after the date of the bonds may be made
payable at the end of said year.

The said special municipal election shall be held anC
conducted, and the votes thereof canvassed, and the returns thereof
made, and the results thereof ascertained and determined as herein pro-
vided; and in all particulars not prescribed by this Ordinance the
election shall be conducted as other municipal elections..
The said special municipal election shall be held in the
manner and procedure provided for general municipal elections.
There shall be 4 precincts for said election consisting of
consolidations of Santa Clara County election precincts as last
established by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara
for the conduct of State and County elections. Their descriptions, the
polling places designated therefore and the election officers to
conduct said election are as follows:
Consolidated Election Precinct No. A shall include and
consist of a consolidation of Los Gatos County Nos. 1, 7, 12 and 13.
The polling place for said precinct and the election
officers therefore are as follows:
Polling place: Town Hall, 110 E. Main St., Los Gatos

Consolidated Election Precinct No. B shall include and
consist of a consolidation of Los Gatos County Nos. 4, 5 and 9.

Ballots of the form and to the
be provided for the election. On the ballots, in addition to any
other printed matter which may be required by law, two voting squares
shall be setoff to the right of the proposition submitted at the
election, in the manner provided by law, one having the word "YES"
printed before it, the other having the word "NO" printed before it.
Each voter-to vote for the proposition and for incurring the
bonded indebtedness shall stamp a cross (X) in the blank space
opposite the word "YES" on the ballot to the ri.ht of the proposition;
and to vote against the proposition and against incurring the
indebtedness shall stamp a cross Win the blank space -opposite the
word "NO" on the ballot to the 'right of the proposition.

The polls shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock A..M. of the day of
election, and shall be kept open until 7:00 o'clock P.M. of the same
day, when the polls shall be closed, except as to voters in line as
provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code.
This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to Article I. comprising
Sections 43600 to 43638, inclusive, of Chapter 4, Division 4, Title
4 of the Government Code of the State of California.
This Ordinance shall be published once a week for two weeks
in the "Los Gatos Times-Saratoga Observer", a daily newspaper of general
circulation, printed and published less than six days a week in the
Town of Los Gatos.
This Ordinance shall be forthwith entered upon the minutes of
the Council in the Ordinance Book of the Town. This Ordinance, being
an ordinance calling anal. ordering an election, shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
