AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND RESTRICTING THE PARKING OF AUTO-
MOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES IN THE STREETS OF THE TOMi OF LOS
GATOS.
THE T01iJqq COUNCIL OF THE TOTU\ OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The word., "vehicle", shall mean anydevice in, upon
or by which any person or property is, or may be transported
upon a highway, except a device which is operated upon rails
or tracks.
--'5ection 2. All automobiles and other vehicles parked or left
standing upon any street or thoroughfare in the Town of Los
Gatos shall be so -parked with the right wheels parallel with
the curb on the right hand curb of said street or thoroughfare
and distant not more than twelve inches therefrom.
Section 3. No automobiles or other vehicles shall be parked or
left standing more than one hour between the hours of 9 o'clock

A. Iii. and 6 o'clock P. M., excepting during the time from 6 o'clock
P`. M. to 9 o'clock A. K. and on Sunday and the following legal
holidays: New Year's Day, Washington's Birthday, Decoration Day,
July 4th, Labor Day,.Admission Day, Armistice Day (November 11),
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas, to TaTit:
(a) On Main Street from Church Street to Lyndon Avenue;
(b) On North Santa Cruz Avenue from T,,•Iain Street to
Saratoga Avenue, except for four spaces in the area of the United
States Post Office in the Town of Los Gatos where parking is
limited to fifteen (15) minutes as set forth in Section 5 hereof.
Section 4. No automobiles or other vehicles shall be parked or
left standing more than two hou3z between the hours of 9 o'clock
A. 1,11. and 6 o'clock P. M., excepting during the time from 6 o'clock
P. 11. to 9 o'clock A. 11.. and on Sunday and the following legal
holidays: Nevi Year's Day, Washington's Birthday, Decoration Day,
July 4th, Labor Day, Admission Day, Armistice Day (November 11),
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas, to grit:
(a) On East Main Street from Church Street to Pleasant
Street;
(b) On University Avenue from West Main Street to Mullen
Avenue;
(c) On Montebello Way;
(d) On the West side of South Santa Cruz Avenue from
West Main Street to Wood Road;
(e) On Royce'Street;
(f) On Gray's Lane;
(g) On Bean Avenue from North Santa Cruz Avenue to
Wilder Avenue.
Sections 5. No automobiles or other vehicles ,shall be parsed or
left standing more than fifteen (15) minutes between the hours of
9 o'clock A. M. and 6 o'clock P. M., excepting during the time
from 6 o'clock P. M. to 9 o'clock A; M. and on Sunday and the
following legal holidays: New Year's Day, Washington's Birthday,
Decoration Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Admission Day, Armistice
Day (November,ll), Thanksgiving Day and Christmas, to wit:
(a) On the East side of North Sam's: Cruz Avenue between
a point on the East s-tide of North Santa Cruz Avenue seventy-eight
(78) feet North of the North curb line of Royce Street and a
point North thereof on the East side of North Santa Cruz Avenue
one hundred and sixty-six (166) feet North of the North curb
line of Royce Street.
Section 6. The Chief of Police shall have lines or markings
painted or placed upon the curb and/or upon the street for the
purpose of designating the parking space and each vehicle shall
nark within the lines or markings so established. It shall be
unlawful and a violation of this ordinance to park any vehicle
across any such line or marking or to park said vehicle in such
position that the sane shall not be entirely within the area so
designated by such lines or markings.

Section 7. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars
($500,00), or by imprisonment in the County jail of the County of
Santa Clara, for a period not exceeding six (6) months, or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 8. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
thirty.(30) days from and after date of its passage and before
the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage it shall be
published once with the names of the members voting for and against

California, at a regular meeting of the Town Council thereof, held
on the day of 19482 by the following vote:
