1-11 that portion of the Town of Los Gatos not included within
the areas of either of the above districts.
Section 3. The business district shall be primarily for the conduct
of co~aerce and general business and for the sale of coa.uraoaities and
there shall be permitted therein, retail stores, banks, theatres,
business offices, notels, restaurants, bakeries, confectionaries,
garages, all uses permitted in the residence district and all uses
not otherwise provided for herein or not specifically prohibited.
There shall be excluded from the business district all processes
of manufacture using electrical energy of more than five horsepower or
with more than five employees except when the product or the greater
part of the product is sold on the premises to the ulti7aate consunerg
repair shops (except public garages) with more than ten employees or
using electrical energy v_ ,.:wore than'five horsepower; storage ware-
houses, lumber or coal yards, : ',he bulk storage of crude oil or any of
its volatile products except as provided by the fire ordinances of the

town, and all uses deemed by the courts to be public nuisances
or fire or explosion hazards.
Section 4. The industrial district is primarily for industries,
manufacturies, trades, storage warehouses, lumber and coal yards
and other uses excluded from the business district and also all uses
permitted in the residence and business districts.
Section 5. The residence district shall be primarily for
residence purposes and no building or rre ises shall be used, and no
building shall be erected or altered for the purpose of being used
for any purpose other than dwellings, apartment houses, churches,
schools, club houses, recreation, private garages, green houses and
other accessory outbuildings.
Section 6. From and after the date this ordinance becomes
effective, any existing building or premises which., in use, shall not
be in conformity with the regulations herein prescribed, shall be
considered non-conforming and the owners or proprietors thereof may
continue such non-conforming, use within the district, subject to the ,
regulations hereinafter provided.
On and after the date this ordinance becomes effective, a non-
conforming building or use may be continued, provided that no
structural extension or addition exceeding either twenty five per cent
of the cubical contents of the building or twenty fire per cent of the
area of the ground occupied (nhen business is conducted in the open)
as existing at the time of the taking effect of this ordinance, shall
be made, provided that no further extensions or additions shall be
permitted.
If a non-conforming building or use, existing at the time this
ordinance takes effect, is subsequently changed to a conforming use
or is destroyed by fire, explosion., earthquake, or other act of God
to the extent of more than half of its assessed value, such building
or use shall not again be altered or rebuilt, except in conformity
with the regulations in effect in the district in which the building
