MARCH 22, 2008
The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on
Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 8:15 A.M. in the Town Council Chambers, 110 East
Main Street.
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Barbara Spector, Vice Mayor Mike Wasserman, Council
Member Steve Glickman, Council Member Diane McNutt, and Council Member
Joe Pirzynski.
Absent: None.
Mayor Spector
Stated that the purpose of the 2008 Retreat was to provide input to the
Council from experts and stakeholders in four issue areas identified by the
Council to be addressed in the General Plan update process.
Announced that there would be many opportunities for public input into the
update process.

Greg Larson, Town Manager
Summarized the purpose of Los Gatos’ General Plan.
Presented demographic trend information for Los Gatos, indicating an
increase in the median age, rising percentages of the over 55 population,
rising household incomes, and increasing diversity.
Presented projections indicating revenue deficits for the Town beginning in
FY 2010/2011.

Panel on Environment and Sustainability
Jennifer Smith Grubb, Sustainable Silicon Valley
o Discussed climate protection initiatives and the role of local
government.
Shiloh Ballard, Silicon Valley Leadership Group
o Discussed land use and development issues affecting the
environment.
Barry Cinnamon, Akeena Solar
o Discussed energy conservation issues and opportunities.
Panel on Recreation
Steve Rauwolf, Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation
o Discussed benefits of recreational activities and role of partnerships
in creating opportunities.
Randi Chen, Representing Youth Sports
o Discussed levels of participation in youth sports and supply of
sports fields.
Marc Jensen, Representing Outdoor Recreation
o Discussed need for pedestrian and bicycle facilities in Los Gatos.
Panel on Youth and Seniors
Bob Campbell, Senior Housing Solutions
o Discussed service and housing needs for seniors.
Amor Santiago, The Health Trust
o Discussed the Healthy Living Initiative and opportunities to address
health needs in the General Plan.
Cary Matsuoka, Los Gatos Union High School District
o Discussed opportunities for partnerships to address school safety,
social services, facility issues, and asset development for youth.
Mike Loya, A Place for Teens
o Discussed issues related to the teen population, including after
school and evening activities, high school traffic and parking, sports
facilities, and alcohol awareness.
Mayor Spector
Thanked the panelists, Council and staff.
Announced that the video of the Retreat would be shared with the General
Plan consultants, and be available on the Town’s web site and broadcast
on KCAT.
