ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A DONATION FROM THE LOS GATOS POLICE
FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,800 FOR A COMPACT RADIO
TRANSMITTER & RECEIVER, AN UNDERCOVER LAPTOP
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt resolution authorizing the Town Manager to accept a donation from the Los Gatos Police
Foundation in the amount of $9,800 for a compact radio transmitter & receiver, an undercover
laptop computer and software.
BACKGROUND:
Over the past several years, the Los Gatos Police Foundation has received private donations and
conducted several fund raising events with funds specifically designated for the purchase of
supplies and equipment for the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department and its four
volunteer groups.
DISCIISSI0N-
Currently, the police investigations bureau does not have a compact transmitter to use for covert
operations or investigations. The transmitter would need to have a receiver in order to record the
transmissions. By having this equipment, the department would broaden its ability to conduct
covert and sensitive investigations.
