A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS AUTHORIZING
THE TOWN MANAGER, OR THE TOWN MANAGER'S DESIGNEE,TO EXECUTE AND
ADMINISTER ACTIVITIES AND OBLIGATIONS RELATED TO THE TOWN'S
MEMBERSHIP IN AND PARTICIPATION WITH THE CALIFORNIA JOINT POWERS
INSURANCE AUTHORITY
WHEREAS,the Town of Los Gatos is a member of the California Joint Powers Insurance
Authority("CJPIA") and participates in insurance, self-insurance, risk management, claims
handling, and related programs through that membership; and
WHEREAS, Town Code section 2.30.295 establishes the Town Manager's authority and
responsibility to administer Town operations and carry out duties assigned by the Town
Council, and the Town Council desires to clarify the Town Manager's authority with respect to
CJPIA-related activities and obligations;
WHEREAS, the Town Council finds it desirable to designate the Town Manager, or the
Town Manager's designee, as the officer responsible for executing and administering
administrative actions necessary to implement the Town's CJPIA membership and participation.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos as follows:
Section 1. Authority of Town Manager. The Town Manager, or the Town Manager's
designee, is hereby authorized to execute, administer, and take any and all actions necessary or
convenient to carry out any activity, duty, or obligation of the Town arising from or related to
the Town's membership in and participation with the California Joint Powers Insurance
Authority, including, without limitation,the execution and submission of forms, notices,
certifications, elections, program documents, contributions, deposits, and other related
administrative instruments.
Section 2. Delegation by Town Manager. The Town Manager may designate one or
more Town officers or employees to exercise any authority granted under this Resolution, in
whole or in part, and may limit, revoke, or modify any such designation at any time. Any such
designation may be made in writing and shall specify the scope of the delegated authority.
Section 3. Scope of Authority. This Resolution is intended to provide administrative
authority to implement the Town's CJPIA membership and participation obligations and shall be
construed to apply only to actions arising from or related to that membership and participation.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
