ITEM NO. 3
CODE COMPLIANCE QUARTERLY REPORT FOR OCTOBER THROUGH
DECEMBER 2000
RECOMMENDATION: Accept the Code Compliance quarterly report.
DISCUSSION:
There was a decrease in the number of complaints reported for the second quarter of this year from
105 to 57. The complaint verification response time has slightly increased from about one half ('V2)
working day to about two (2) working days. This is primarily due to the fact that we are currently
without a full-time code compliance officer. The assistant planner serving as interim code
compliance officer's approach is primarily re -active and this is reflected in the number of staff
reported violations as opposed to the public reported violations. The recruitment process for a full
time Code Compliance Officer is underway. It is anticipated that the position will be filled within
the next 3 months.
