SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE DONATION OF USED COMPUTER EQUIPMENT TO NOVA PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize donation of used computer equipment to NOVA program.
BACKGROUND:
The Los Gatos -Saratoga High School District has asked the Town to donate used personal computers and
printers for its NOVA Program. The Town has many outdated or broken computer components which have
been replaced. This equipment could be donated to the NOVA Program rather than auctioned off.
DISCUSSION:
The Los Gatos -Saratoga High School District wrote that the computers would be an asset to their NOVA
Program. NOVA is a new alternative program for at -risk high school students in the district. A copy of the
letter is attached. The Town is replacing this outdated equipment as part of improved automation and
productivity. The value of the equipment if auctioned is minimal. Donating the equipment will have little affect
on the budget and a positive impact on an important school program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Currently, the Town is disposing 15 full systems and 1 printer. The estimated value is between $0 and $200
per system. Auctioneer receives 25% of proceeds.
