CHAPTER 2, SECTION 2-11 OF THE TOWN CODE ESTABLISHING DATES AND TIMES
OF REGULAR TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Motion to waive reading of the attached ordinance.
2. Clerk to read title.
3. Motion to introduce the ordinance
DISCUSSION:
The current Town Code section reads:
The town council shall hold regular meetings on the first and third Monday of each month
at seven -thirty p.m.; provided, that when the day fixed for any regular meeting of the town
council falls upon a day designated by law as a legal or national holiday, such meeting shall
be held at the same hour on the next succeeding day not a holiday. (Ord. No. 389, § 1.)
Under the foregoing section, staff is required to schedule and notice any meetings which do not occur on
the first and third Monday of the month as a "Special Meeting". The proposed amendment to the Town
Code would permit the Town Council to approve a schedule every fiscal year establishing all the regular
meetings for the Town Council. Accordingling, those scheduled meetings, regardless of the days on which
they are held, will not require any special noticing.

CHAPTER 2, SECTION 2-111 OF THE TOWN
CODE ESTABLISHING TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN:
SECTION I
Article I, Section 2-1, Town Council Meetings -Time, of the Town Code is hereby
repealed in its entirety.
SECTION II
Article I, Section 2-1, Town Council Meetings -Time, of the Town Code is hereby
enacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL
Section 2-1. Town Council Meetings -Time.
The town council shall hold regular meetings beginning at seven -thirty p.m. pursuant
to the schedule that is adopted by the town council every fiscal year establishing the regular
meetings for the town council.
SECTION III
This ordinance takes effect 30 days after it is adopted. Within 15 days after this
ordinance is adopted the Town Clerk shall cause it to be published once in a newspaper
of general circulation published and circulated in the Town.
This ordinance was introduced at a meeting of the Town Council of
the Town of Los Gatos on , 1991 and adopted by the following vote
as an ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos at a meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Los Gatos on , 1991.
