Ref Attachment 10 -Public comments letter from the LGSR Executive Director to the LG
Town Manager dated March 27, 2024: In the General Considerations paragraph, it says,
among other things:
"RECOMMEND POLITICAL OR CURRENT EVENTS DISCUSSION GROUPS BE PROHIBITED
FROM USING THE FACILITIES."
Does this also mean that we cannot hold forums for Town Council candidates too? Does
this mean the League of Women Voters is prohibited from sponsoring forums?
Considering what the ACLU stated in their April 18, 2024 letter to the LGS Rec, it seems to
me that the LGSR Executive Director and the Los Gatos Town Manager are collaborating to
suppress First Amendment rights in our Town.
I think that this proposed prohibition should be openly discussed and justified instead of
buried deep in the last attachment of Attachment 10 to this Budget item.

Gabrielle,
Sorry I did not send this to you earlier but only became aware of it myself this afternoon. This
indicates that the LGS Rec lease agreement for the main ARC building is also being proposed
for changes in a March 27, 2024 submission to the Council and Town Manager. While not
labeled specifically on the agenda for tomorrow’s Council meeting, this proposal in the
attachment is being considered for negotiations soon, I would suspect.
Therefore, I propose that any contracts being considered at this time by the Council with LGS
Rec to be pulled from consent and more detailed analysis be conducted as they could impact
the other agreements in place between the Town and LGS Rec. Reviewing the link below and
attachment will provide the background info.
Thanks, and sorry about multiple messages today, but finding the files has been something of
a challenge.
