Minutes of the Town Council Special Meeting
Monday, July 1, 2024
The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Special Meeting in-person and utilizing
teleconferencing means on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. to discuss placing a 1/8th cent
Sales Tax measure on the November 2024 Ballot.
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 5:16 P.M.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Mary Badame, Vice Mayor Matthew Hudes, Council Member Rob Moore,
Council Member Rob Rennie (teleconference), and Council Member Maria Ristow.
Absent: None
VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS (ONLY ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA)
Tevis Ignacio
- Commented on the prior meeting’s discussion of the sales tax and stated he was
opposed to the tax.
Jak Van Nada
- Commented on the Town’s revenues and expenses, spoke about concerns with a
general tax, and advocated for a specific tax.
THE TOWN MOVED TO CLOSED SESSION ON THE FOLLOWING ITEM:
1. Adopt a Resolution to Place a 1/8th Cent Sales Tax on the November 2024 Ballot as a
General Tax, Introduce an Ordinance to Approve the Tax Ordinance, Adopt a Resolution to
Add a Companion Advisory Measure, and Authorize a Budget Adjustment in the Amount of
$132,000 from the Available Capital/Special Projects Reserve.
Katy Nomura, Assistant Town Manager presented the staff report.
Town Attorney, Gabrielle Whelan, provided additional information.
Mayor Badame reopened public comment on this item.
Linda Swenberg
- Commented on concerns with the tax measure and requested that Council take no
action on this item.
Mayor Badame closed public comment.
Council asked questions and discussed the item.

Finance Director, Gitta Ungvari, provide additional information related to the Town’s finances.
MOTION: Motion by Mayor Badame to take no action. Seconded by Vice Mayor Hudes.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
