Subject: Comment on Item 18 of the Town Council's 4/2/2024 agenda
[EXTERNAL SENDER]
For inclusion in the Town Council packet for the April 2, 2024 TC meeting:
As one of the proponents of the Referendum, I read with interest the following in Item 18 of the 4/2/24
agenda under the topic of "Additional Options":
2) Meet with the Referendum Proponents
The Town Council could select 1) an ad hoc committee composed solely of members of the
Town Council, 2) staff members, or 3) others to meet with the referendum proponents to
discuss possible amendments to the adopted Land Use Element and Community Design Element
of the 2040 General Plan and the potential for withdrawal of the referendum petition. The deadline to withdraw the ballot measure is August 9th.
I note that this option has been available since the Referendum was qualified by the citizens of
Los Gatos a year and a half ago. We have never heard from anyone on staff nor Council,
leaving us with the distinct impression that no one has been interested in such a
discussion. Seeing it on the agenda was a reminder that this has been an option since the
referendum qualified.
As always, we stand ready to engage in productive conversation with staff and Council on matters of
critical importance to the Town.
