1) The return Reply form states April 30 as the start of the Minium Fire Safety
Standards date. The TRA 30 Notice to Destroy form states April 15. How was
this date determined? Neither of these dates is realistic for Los Gatos. Fire
risk is a probability based on the weather, previous fire history, fuel, soil
moisture, and ignition sources. Los Gatos is in an urban fire region and has a
very low lighting probability. The weeds continue growing until June, even if
they are cutreflecting a reasonable soil moisture. The fire season start date
should be at least May 15-30.
2) This year was very challenging to find workers to do weed wacking. I was
unable to get a crew until June. The crew I found was from El Salvador.
3) What determines compliance? If the area is 90% or 80% clear, is this good
enough? What about regrowth after the first mowing? Are there any
standards? If I am being charged $100 - $600, how about a picture with an
observation date?
4) I have 20.5 acres with a 40' riparian dedication to the town along Shady
Lane. How should this be handled.
