Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 ● 408-354-6832 www.losgatosca.gov TOWN OF LOS GATOS COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT MEETING DATE: 12/19/2023 ITEM NO: 3 DRAFT Minutes of the Town Council Special Meeting December 12, 2023 The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a special meeting in-person and utilizing teleconferencing means on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. to reorganize the Town Council. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:03 P.M. ROLL CALL Present: Mayor Maria Ristow, Vice Mayor Mary Badame, Council Member Matthew Hudes, Council Member Rob Moore, Council Member Rob Rennie. Absent: None CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION) 1. Authorize the Town Manager to Enter into an Agreement with Santa Clara County to Receive a $125,000 Grant for Adult Day Services and/or Case Management for Older Adults. Mayor Ristow opened public comment. No one spoke. Mayor Ristow closed public comment. MOTION: Motion by Vice Mayor Badame to approve consent item #1. Seconded by Council Member Moore. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously. VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS (ONLY ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA) Marna Taylor, United Methodist Church, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church - Thanked the Mayor for her support of the unhoused community members. Karen Rubio and Kathleen Willey, Plant Based Advocates - Thanked Mayor Ristow for her efforts toward sustainability and commended the Council. Karen Delaney - Commented in opposition of appointing the presumed Mayor. PAGE 2 OF 3 SUBJECT: Draft Minutes of the Town Council Special Meeting of December 12, 2023 DATE: December 12, 2023 Town Manager Prevetti presented a commemorative video of outgoing Mayor Ristow. Town Manager Prevetti presented Mayor Ristow with a ceremonial plaque. Assembly Member Gail Pellerin presented the outgoing Mayor with a commendation. Kelsey Combellick, Chief of Staff for Supervisor Simitian, commended Mayor Ristow, the Town Council, and staff for their work on expanding mental health services. OTHER BUSINESS 2. Consider the Reorganization of the Town Council and Appointment of the Mayor and Vice Mayor: a. Appreciation of Mayor Ristow b. Appointment of Mayor and Vice Mayor Mayor Ristow provided comments regarding her mayoral year. The Council Members thanked outgoing Mayor Ristow for her service and leadership. Mayor Ristow thanked each Council Member. MOTION: Motion by Mayor Ristow to nominate Vice Mayor Badame as Mayor. Seconded by Council Member Rennie. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously. Mayor-Elect Badame provided comments on her upcoming mayoral year and thanked her family and Town staff. MOTION: Motion by Mayor-Elect Badame to nominate Council Member Hudes as Vice Mayor. Seconded by Council Member Ristow. VOTE: Motion passed unanimously. Vice Mayor-Elect Hudes gave comments on his coming Vice Mayoral year and thanked his family. Mayor-Elect Badame introduced former Mayor and Council Member Barbara Spector who then administered the Oath of Office to Vice Mayor-Elect Hudes and Mayor-Elect Badame. Vice Mayor Hudes thanked former Mayor Spector for her service.
