SUBJECT: Adopt a Resolution to Seek Membership in the American Association of
Retired People (AARP) Network of Age-Friendly Communities
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a Resolution to seek membership in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities.
REMARKS:
The AARP has a Network of Age-Friendly Communities. Los Gatos was designated an Age-
Friendly Community in 2017 by the World Health Organization. Cities can apply to join by filling
out an application, including a resolution from the governing body and a letter from the Mayor.
This item seeks Council adoption of a Resolution which would be part of the Town’s application
package.
The advantage of joining AARP’s Network includes technical assistance as well as eligibility for
possible grant funding. Grant funding could be useful for implementing elements of the Senior
Services Roadmap.
COORDINATION:
The preparation of the Resolution was coordinated with the Town Attorney.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the Resolution.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
