SUBJECT: Rescind Resolution 2023-051 and Adopt a Revised Enabling Resolution for the
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission to Clarify that All Members are
Voting Members and that Terms will be Staggered
RECOMMENDATION:
Rescind Resolution 2023-051 and adopt a revised Enabling Resolution (Attachment 1) for the
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission to clarify that all members are voting members and
that terms will be staggered.
REMARKS:
On September 19, 2023, the Town Council heard public testimony, deliberated, and voted four-
one to establish a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission by adopting its Enabling
Resolution and to direct its recruitment with the annual fall Commission recruitment. Following
Council action, staff observed that the adopted Resolution contained clerical errors that did not
indicate that all members were voting members and terms would be staggered.
Attachment 1 contains a revised Enabling Resolution that corrects these errors. Attachment 2
contains a redlined version so the changes are more apparent.
COORDINATION:
The preparation of this report was coordinated with the Town Attorney and Town Clerk.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action has no fiscal impact.
