Dear Mayor Ristow, Vice Mayor Badame, and Council Members Hudes, Moore, and Rennie,
I am a professional artist living and working in Los Gatos since 2009. I am deeply involved in the Bay Area Arts
community and have shown locally, nationally and internationally.
Recently, I have had the honor of a solo show at NUMU - Critical Masses, A Very Low Tide, which was well
attended and well received. I did a number of related talks for the public and many arts organizations at the
museums as well as presentations through the Art Docents of Los Gatos to arts and science classes at
Raymond J. Fisher Middle School.
I know as an artist, a local resident interested in our towns history and a parent who has been pleased to
make art classes available to my children, what an important role New Museum Los Gatos plays in our
community and beyond. I have volunteered as a Community Representative to the NUMU’s Board and
curatorial team and I was surprised to understand that the the Town of Los Gatos does not fully financially
support this museum in the same way that many of our neighboring towns financially support their
museums. Many of our town residents just assume that is the case and are stunned to find out that it isn’t.
I am asking you to prioritize the financial support of NUMU going forward by removing rent payments from
NUMU’s lease with the Town of Los Gatos, supporting the stewardship of the arts, culture and history of this
amazing town that I am so proud to live and work in.
